We know Boxing Day for Aussies is a day of tradition. Every year, you might go to the same uncle’s house, swim in the same pool, play the same rounds of backyard cricket. Even when it comes to entertainment, you might be watching the same sport you have every year — just because you’ve done it every year.
But there’s no time like right now to create some new traditions, and Netflix is here to help with a big one — the NFL.

Yep, that’s right. This year, and for the first time ever, Netflix is airing two NFL matches for Boxing Gameday. Oh, and they’ll be aired live.

We know Netflix is firmly in their live sports bag — try and find someone who didn’t tune into the Tyson vs. Paul match. But now, Netflix is giving you the chance to switch it up this Boxing Day. Huge news for fans of the NFL and fans of sport in general. You no longer have to be that guy who only watches the Superbowl.
But what games are airing? Well, the morning after you’ve stuffed yourself silly on Christmas Day, you’ll find the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers at 5AM AEDT. Then, at 8:30AM AEDT: the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens. It’s set to kick off your Boxing Day in a bigger way than ever before, letting you lean all the way into holiday fun.
That not enough for you? Well, in huge news, Houston’s very own Beyoncé will be performing the halftime show for Texans vs. Ravens. Considering she broke the internet (again) with her surprise drop of new music while at the Super Bowl earlier this year, you can expect some major surprises when she takes to the stage.

Along with Queen Bee, Netflix have got local Aussie sporting and radio royalty in on the celebrations. The likes of Brian To’o, Mason Cox, Charlotte Caslick, Willie Mason, Brendan Fevola, Chloe Logarzo, Jimmy Smith and Nathan Roye have all jumped on board the campaign to celebrate the iconic union of Netflix and NFL.
And, look, we know that Boxing Day falls right in the middle of the week between Christmas and New Year’s where no-one knows what day it is or which way is up. Luckily, you can log into Netflix right now and set a reminder to let you know when the games are beginning. Remember, these are being streamed live so you don’t want to miss a moment. Future you will thank you.
Plus, this isn't a one-and-done deal. Netflix has signed on for at least three seasons, so why not establish a new tradition now? You’ll have that huge level of excitement brewing for 2025 and 2026 as well. There’s no better way to wake up on December 26. The games will be available across all Netflix subscription tiers (for 24 hours internationally), so everyone can join in on the fun. If you don’t have Netflix, but are ready to kick off Boxing Day a new way this year, be sure to sign up.
