Donald Trump makes embarrassing blunder during Ohio football team's White House visit

The US President had a moment to forget when he made a gaffe in his speech.

Donald Trump made an embarrassing blunder when greeting the winners of the College Football Playoff to the White House.

The US President has recently embarked upon his second term in office after defeating Kamala Harris in an election towards the end of 2024.

Around the same time President Trump was about to take residence in the Oval Office once again in January, Ohio State Buckeyes beat Notre Dame Volunteers to claim the College Football Playoff title game and win the first-ever 12-team playoff.

The 34-23 victory means the Buckeyes have become national champions once again for the first time in around a decade.

After the victory, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said: "There was a point where there was a lot of people that counted us out. We just kept swinging and kept fighting. It’s the reason you get into coaching.

"It’s to see guys overcome things. Learn life lessons and then reach their dreams. This is what happened tonight."

The victorious team have recently received their rings for the triumph - one for making the College Football Playoff (CFP), another from the CFP itself for winning it, plus a championship ring from Ohio State.

And the victorious team have now headed to the US capital city Washington DC to mark their triumph.

This trip has included a visit to the White House where they were congratulated by President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, himself a graduate of Ohio State, on their achievement.

Vice President Vance had a moment to forget when he dropped the trophy Ohio State had won during a presentation. But President Trump made an error himself when he spoke about Will Howard, one of Ohio State's players.

He mistakenly called the 23-year-old 'Tennessee quarterback Will Howard' as he discussed Ohio State's victory over Notre Dame from the White House during the team's visit.

During his address, he said: "I watched that game and said: 'That guy is good!'"

"He's going to be so rich, aye, aye, aye... think of that. To look like that and to play (like that), that's a good combination.

President Trump added: "We’ll be watching him for 15 years, maybe longer."
