NBA coach was asked about meeting royal family, his response stunned the room into silence

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was asked about his thoughts on playing in front of the Royal Family, his response shocked reporters.

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was asked about how he felt about playing in front of members of the Royal Family, but he seemed unfazed and care-free.

Following the Celtics' win over the Miami Heat, a reporter asked Mazzulla in the post-game conference about playing in front of the Royals: "Did you get a chance to meet with the royal family? And if not how was it like having them in the building?"

To that, the 34-year-old responded: "Jesus, Mary and Joseph?". Check out the reaction below.

The reporter giggled before clarifying that she meant the Prince and Princess of Wales, to which Mazzulla calmly replied:

"Oh no, I did not. I'm only familiar with one Royal Family, I don't know too much about that one. Thank you."

His response seemed to silence the room, with no other questions being asked despite the Celtics winning the game by 13 points.

Mazzulla seemed nonchalant about the situation, with it being clear that the Royal Family is not as big a deal in America as it is in the UK and perhaps Europe too.

Fans in the arena also chanted 'USA' whenever the Royals were shown on the Jumbotron, a nice welcome to them on their first visit to the US in eight years.

Celtics forward Jaylen Brown was also asked about their presence, to which he nonchalantly replied: "It was just a regular game to me."

Regardless of the special guests, the Celtics put in a strong showing, beating the Miami Heat 134-121 in front of their home fans at TD Garden, their fifth win in a row and 18th of the season.

Jayson Tatum was the best player on the court by far, getting 49 points on 60% shooting from the field, as well as 11 rebounds and 3 assists.

The aforementioned Jaylen Brown managed 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists as well, with this result keeping the Celtics atop the Eastern conference.

The Celtics did lose the replay last night though, but they nonetheless look like strong contenders for the NBA title this season.
