Joe Rogan has a very strict rule on his famous podcast and to date he has broken it just once - but it was for a very good reason.
The 57-year-old is one of the most recognisable faces and voices in the UFC as a color commentator for the MMA company.
He also hosts one of the most popular podcasts on the planet called the Joe Rogan Experience which has a deal with Spotify for an estimated $250m.

There have been more than 2,000 episodes of the podcast since it started back in 2009 and has become one of the most popular series in the world.
Rogan has spoken to many famous faces over the years, even extending to invitations for US presidential candidates and he hosted Donald Trump on an episode which was broadcast in October 2024.
President Trump went on to emerge victorious over incumbent vice-president Kamala Harris and has recently embarked upon his second term in office.

Rogan did not interview Harris in the build-up to the election, with one theory that it did not happen for a reason that the host insists upon.
Rogan refused to travel to speak to Harris as he usually demands that guests appear in the now famous studio in order to have a face-to-face discussion.
It was also suggested that Harris' team had been in touch with Rogan's show about a possible appearance, but the scheduling of both parties and the election campaign did not line up.

In fact, one of the only times Rogan has not conducted the podcast in the flesh was to speak to Edward Snowden, with the interview taking place remotely in 2019.
Snowden is living in exile in Russia after leaking classified documents from the National Security Agency (NSA) back in 2013.
The now 41-year-old was indicted for espionage and his US passport was revoked, but he eventually made it to Moscow in Russia, after previously flying to Hong Kong.
Snowden lived in Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport for a month before Russia granted him asylum, and in recent years he has been granted permanent residency and also Russian citizenship.

Due to being wanted in the US, it means Snowden is unable to travel there for obvious reasons, so Rogan broke his golden rule and ended up conducting the podcast over a video call.
