Dana White ends UFC tradition because of something every fighter did at UFC 304

Dana White ends UFC tradition because of something every fighter did at UFC 304

The UFC CEO has had enough.

Dana White has decided to end one UFC tradition after what the fighters at UFC 304 did.

UFC came to Manchester on Saturday night for UFC 304, but while the event provided some dramatic moments, it didn't live up to the expectations of the promotion's CEO Dana White.

Seven of the fights went to decision before the main card between Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards failed to really take off.

Earlier on in the evening, Tom Aspinall defended his interim UFC heavyweight title with a first-round knockout against Curtis Blaydes while Paddy Pimblett scored a first-round submission victory over King Green.

Undefeated fighter Mohammed Mokaev cruised to a unanimous decision victory against Manel Kape in their flyweight bout, but during his post-event press conference, White brutally announced the fighter's departure from UFC.

White was clearly not in the best of moods, as he then announced that he will stop raising bonuses from $50,000 going forward, bringing an end to what has become something of a tradition.

"Upping them [bonuses] doesn't change anything, it doesn't make anybody fight any harder, it doesn't change anything," White fumed when asked about fighters asking for bigger bonuses.

"I'm not doing this again. Today was the last day I'm doing that.

"I'm not saying that in the future the bonuses can't get up, but I'm gonna be in a press conference saying '200, 300', f****** never again, never again.

"You can thank everyone on this card for that. Nobody fought any harder. There was no sense of urgency. 'Holy sh**, I want the $100,000'. Seven straight f****** decisions."

White clearly wasn't happy with the performances at UFC 304, although he himself has not been spared criticism for the slightly underwhelming card put together.
