Dana White goes on his biggest rant ever over Jon Jones' position in new UFC pound-for-round rankings

Dana White goes on his biggest rant ever over Jon Jones' position in new UFC pound-for-round rankings

Dana White was not happy with the new UFC pound-for-pound rankings.

Dana White launched into one of his biggest rants ever over Jon Jones' place in the new UFC pound-for-round rankings.

As the world's premier mixed martial arts competition, the UFC pound-for-pound rankings always make for interesting reading.

With so many top fighters on the roster there are always going to be disagreements about each fighter's ranking, but rarely does UFC president Dana White lost his cool on the issue.

He has now though, after it was revealed that Jon Jones is third in the ranking, behind Islam Makhachev and Alex Pereira.

White is a self-confessed fan of 'Bones', having previously refereed to the two-weight world champion as the greatest fighter of all time.

While Jones - who has lost just once in his career but hasn't fought since March 2023 due to a pectoral injury - is ranked above the likes of Ilia Topuria and Dricus Du Plessis, White is adamant that the 37-year-old should be top of the pile.

The UFC President told Kevin Iole: "Jon Jones is ranked number three pound-for-pound in the world. The most f****** ridiculous, embarrassing, stupid, know-nothing about f****** fighting ranking of all time.

"Jon Jones is the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, period, end of story. To have anybody above Jon Jones right now, just goes to show that you know absolutely f****** nothing."

He continued: "It’s undebatable. Anybody who even tries to debate this with me, you’re just hating on Jon Jones and you don’t like him as a person. These are f****** facts.

"It’s not like me and Jon Jones have this unbelievable relationship. What I’m saying about Jon Jones is undebatable. The baddest dude to ever walk the face of the Earth in combat sports.”

The emergence of British fighter Tom Aspinall has thrown into question Jones' status as the heavyweight number one.

Fans want to see the two stars go head-to-head, but Jones is instead set to face Stipe Miocic in November.
