Conor McGregor teases 'something special' ahead of UFC 300 as fans spot clue over return

Conor McGregor teased a potential announcement at UFC 300's pre-fight press conference.

Conor McGregor has teased a potential blockbuster announcement ahead of UFC 300's pre-fight press conference this week.

It's officially UFC 300 fight week as the promotion's historic event goes down on Saturday from Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena.

Three massive title bouts feature on the stacked card, including Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill, Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan as well as the BMF showdown between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway.

But, before fight night, there will be a press conference and McGregor has teased a potential announcement about his UFC return - expected to be against Michael Chandler.

On Instagram, he reposted a clip of Dana White making an announcement at a presser, accompanied with the caption: "I could see UFC 300 press conference ending like this..."

It then cuts to a video of the 'Notorious', with his trademark 'The Foggy Dew' soundtrack.

The 35-year-old appears to be suggesting something similar could be in the works ahead of this week's presser to announce his highly-anticipated comeback.

And it comes after Holloway, who fought McGregor back in 2013, said the UFC have 'something special' planned for the press conference.

The Hawaiian fighter said: "There’s nothing much [left that] you can do you know. All the hard work is done, we got a couple of hard workouts [left] but ain’t nothing you know, there’s nothing you can do in 2 weeks to get ready for next Saturday."

He then teased: "I heard that they’ve got something special planned for the press conference, so I’m looking forward to fight week."

McGregor hasn't fought since July 2021 when he suffered a brutal first-round TKO defeat (doctor stoppage) to Dustin Poirier.

He's currently on a two-fight losing skid, having lost back-to-back fights to Poirier, with his last win coming against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 back in January 2020.
