Conor McGregor makes his feelings clear on Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight in now-deleted post which stunned UFC fans

Conor Mcgregor weighed on the potential Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight before deleting his post.

Conor McGregor has made his feelings clear on the mooted UFC heavyweight title superfight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall in a post which he deleted.

Jones defended his heavyweight belt for the first time on Saturday night, finishing Stipe Miocic via technical knockout and sending the UFC legend into retirement.

After claiming a 28th win in his MMA career, Jones is looking for next challenger and expressed interest in taking on light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.

But the fans want to see him take on interim heavyweight champ Aspinall, who was the back-up fighter for the UFC 309 main event and sat cageside.

Taking issue with Aspinall pushing for the bout, 'Bones' has said he wants "f**k you money" and to be "so compensated" in order to fight the Brit.

Aspinall held a positive meeting with UFC president Dana White and chief business officer Hunter Campbell and is optimistic he will get the title shot he has earned.

With his 6ft 5, 250lb frame and devastating knockout power which has brought three consecutive first round finishes, many feel as though Aspinall's style presents an extremely awkward challenge for Jones, who is now 37.

But former two weight UFC champion McGregor has provided his view and believes the matchup should go ahead. In fact, the Irishman believes 'Bones' , arguably the greatest UFC fighter in history, has reason to take encouragement from "woeful" sparring footage posted involving Aspinall.

Aspinall mixed it up with Glory Kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven and McGregor claims the clip is "good footage for Jones to watch" and he himself has "warmed" to the idea of the two squaring off.

In a post which he swiftly deleted, McGregor wrote: "That footage of him looking woeful vs Rico Verhoeven is good footage to watch for Jon. I've warmed to this matchup. I think it should happen."

White has said Jones vs Aspinall will "probably be the biggest fight we’ve ever done" but McGregor scoffed at that, simply writing: "Now, now" in response.
