What Conor McGregor did after Dana White's major announcement speaks volumes

What Conor McGregor did after Dana White's major announcement speaks volumes

Conor McGregor was told by Dana White that he won't be fighting in 2024.

Dana White has revealed what Conor McGregor did after he made his shock announcement about the UFC superstar.

McGregor was supposed to return to action last month when he was scheduled to face Michael Chandler in the main-event of UFC 303.

But his comeback was postponed after he suffered a toe injury in training, which forced him out of his Las Vegas showdown.

The clash between McGregor and Chandler had been rumoured to be rescheduled for December, with a UFC 310 card mooted.

However, White announced that McGregor would NOT be fighting this year, prompting an immediate response from the Irishman.

The UFC CEO has doubled down on the former UFC double champion not fighting in 2024 and has revealed what the 'Notorious' has done in wake of his announcement.

He revealed that McGregor has been 'blowing' him up telling the UFC boss he'll fight this year.

"I don’t know what Chandler’s planning on doing. I know he’s kind of kicking around right now," the 55-year-old said.

"You know, you can imagine after I said that, Conor was blowing me up, going, 'I’ll definitely fight this year'. When we get to a point where we’re setting a fight and I believe that a Conor McGregor fight is going to happen, I will announce it."

He added: "As of right now, I believe that Conor will not fight this year. Conor’s saying he wants to fight, he wants to fight in December. We’ll see how it plays out."

McGregor took to social media to respond to White's latest comments.

On X, he wrote: "THE UFC LOVE AND WANT ME FOR DECEMBER! I AM READY."

Chandler, who has been holding out for a fight against McGregor, agreed to the proposed date, writing: "December it is."

McGregor hasn't fought since July 2021 while Chandler has been out of action since November 2022.
