An MMA fighter lost in embarrassing fashion after "submitting himself" in his latest fight.
Muyasar Abutrobov, from Tajikistan, took on Magomed Gadzhie in bantamweight clash on the most recent card from Russian promotion Arena.
They met in the third bout on the card but the contest was done inside the first round after Abutrobov had a submission fail of epic proportions.

Gadzhie pounced to push Abutrobov against the cage but managed to get out of it and took his opponent to the deck.
Abutrobov was on the receiving end of some brutal strikes and ended up getting badly cut, with blood streaming from his face.
But just when he established some control and was getting the better of Gadzhie, he got a little excited and tried to roll into a kneebar.
The submission is a devastating one if executed correctly but Abutrobov trapped his foot and ended up suffering a painful injury to his own knee.

He was evidently in immediate agony and that was spotted by the referee, who stepped in to call off the contest with 14 seconds of the first round left.
Gadzhie, to his credit, was a great sportsman and helped the hobbling Abutrobov before his team escorted him out of the cage.
In 2018, a moment of madness saw Timothy Woods suffer defeat after he accidentally knocked himself out while trying to take down opponent Tim Caron.

The two fighters grappled on the side of the cage, before Woods locked in the whizzer and attempted to throw Caron down.
However, he ended up KOing himself when his forehead smashed against the canvas in wincing fashion.
Caron was declared the winner after just 83 seconds of action, with Woods lying motionless after being knocked out cold.
