Donald Trump aims dig at granddaughter Kai's golf skills amid 'cheating' allegations against US president

Trump says his granddaughter is a terrific golfer but not as terrific as him

Donald Trump's granddaughter, Kai, is a handy golfer and the US President believes she might even be able to beat him one day.

Trump, a terrific golfer, has faced constant allegations of cheating on the golf course throughout his second term in office.

It's not clear whether his accusers believe Trump to be a willing cheat or at the wrong end of a Mr Burns-style ruse, and he might of course be completely innocent, but at least the gossip is an entertaining sidebar to a presidency that is having a destabilising effect on the whole of humanity.

Trump and Kai travelled together to take in UFC 314 this past weekend and Fox News reports that Gramps praised Kai's golf skills in a video she posted online.

"I just wanna say that I play a lot of golf with Kai and she's a fantastic golfer," said the leader of the free world.

"She's a scratch player, which is amazing. I think some day in the not-too-distant future she's gonna be much better than scratch.

"But she's doing really well and she wins a lot of matches. And some day she'll be able to beat her grandfather, but I'm not sure when that'll be... it might be a long time."

The President also plays a lot of golf without Kai and hits the ball "long and straight," according to himself.

After Trump won the Senior Club Championship at Trump International Golf Club, the Daily Mail alleged that Trump was not present at one of the two days of the tournament as he was attending the funeral of a supporter.

In 2004, writer Rick Reilly caddied for the rich and powerful for his book, 'Who's Your Caddy?'

"When it comes to cheating, [Trump is] an 11 on a scale of one to 10," he told the Washington Post years later.

The report in the Post also carried the testimony of a former caddy at one of Trump's golf courses in New Jersey.

"The caddies would say, ‘If I get on his bag, I’m going to make sure he always has a good lie," claimed the caddy.

Good luck, Kai.
