Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha gave an honest and emotional post-match interview after Brentford snatched a point at Selhurst Park on Tuesday night – and it was so refreshing to hear.
The 29-year-old Ivory Coast international, who has started the 2022/23 Premier League campaign in fine form, opened the scoring for Patrick Vieira's side with a magnificent curling effort.
After moving the ball onto his trusty right boot, he found the far corner with this wonderful strike.
Zaha could have easily had a hat-trick if it wasn't for Brentford full-back Aaron Hickey, who produced two crucial blocks to deny the former Manchester United man.
But the away side staged a late resurgence in South London and with two minutes of normal time remaining, second-half substitute Yoane Wissa nodded past Vicente Guaita in the Palace goal.
You could argue Palace were lucky to walk away with a point after Brentford defender Ben Mee clattered the crossbar in stoppage time with a powerful header.
After surrending a 2-0 lead against Manchester City last weekend, it was another 'what could have been' result for Palace.
And moments after the final whistle, goalscorer Wilfried Zaha, who has been strongly linked with a transfer of late, vented his frustrations with an emotional post-match interview that has since gone viral.
We're not sure if Patrick Vieira will be too happy with this one, but plenty of fans have come out and expressed their appreciation at his raw honesty and passion.
Zaha told BT Sport: "I'm lost for words man. Listen one lapse in concentration it just ruins all the hard work.
"We literally just had to keep it tight. It was like as soon as we went into the lead, we just started to defend.
"I don't see why we do that. If we had just continued pressing on, I feel like we could have got a second and just ended the game, but we just killed ourselves in the end."
In his post-match interview, Palace boss Patrick Vieira played down rumours that Zaha could leave before the transfer window slams shut as the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea continue to be linked.
"I think there’s no comment to be made on that," Vieira said when asked about the speculation. "I see him training every day and he didn’t mention nothing about leaving.
"He’s always concentrated on performing well for the team because he wants to win games for this football club.
"There’s a really nice relationship between this football team and Wilfried Zaha, it’s not going to stop now."
As mentioned earlier, it has been a superb start to the season for Zaha. He has bagged four times in four games for the Eagles, including goals against Aston Villa [2], Liverpool and of course, Brentford on Tuesday night.
