Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney is still hoping to lure Gareth Bale out of retirement and sign for Wrexham.
The Red Dragons are preparing to life in the third tier of English football after they managed to seal back-to-back promotions from Non League to League Two and then to League One.
Since their promotion was confirmed, Wrexham have been linked with a host of different players including the likes of Jamie Vardy, Arthur Okonkwo and Macaulay Langstaff.
Last year, when Wrexham sealed their passage back to the Football League, former Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur star Bale sent them a message of congratulations.

In response, McElhenney jokingly said: “I won’t spend four hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season.”
Now, as reported by The Athletic, McElhenney has not given up on Bale coming out of retirement and signing for Wrexham.
He said: “Gareth Bale is still technically available! I made the plea last year and I’m just going to tell Gareth that the offer is still on the table.
“We’ll let him play golf whenever he wants. Just as long he comes training and we’ll figure out how to get him in the team.”

In total, the former winger made over 550 club appearances across all competitions, scoring 185 goals.
Bale also got his hands on five Champions League trophies, three La Liga titles and three FIFA Club World Cups during his time with Madrid. At Spurs, Bale was part of the squad which won the League Cup during the 07/08 season.
