Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester United are preparing an opening bid for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund after moving a giant step closer to signing Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
It was reported by The Athletic overnight that United have agreed a fee of €55 million to sign Onana, with the Cameroonian set to replace David de Gea as the club's number one goalkeeper.
The 27-year-old is still to complete a medical, although he has already agreed personal terms with United.

He is set to reunite with manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, with the pair having previously worked together at Dutch giants Ajax.
Onana will become the club's second summer signing, after they completed a deal for midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea earlier this month.
Once that is done, United are reportedly set to turn towards Hojlund - and Romano claims a bid could be imminent.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained: "United are starting to prepare an opening official bid. They are discussing internally about an opening official bid for Hojlund.

"They never sent any official bid. At the moment, they had some exchanges with Atalanta, through intermediaries, to understand how much they wanted. From what I'm told, it is something around €70 million."
The transfer journalist warned that negotiations will be tough with Atalanta - but added that the 20-year-old is keen on a move to Old Trafford.
"This is the potential fee for Rasmus Hojlund, so let's see how the conversations between Atalanta and Manchester United go," he added.

"From what I'm told, the player is super keen on the move. Hojlund wants to try a top club experience. He was a United fan as a kid, so Hojlund is super keen on a move to United. He is the target, number one for Manchester United right now."
A priority position for United to improve from the beginning of the window, the signing of a centre forward will provide Ten Hag's side with a major boost ahead of the new campaign, following on from the news that Marcus Rashford has agreed terms in principle over a new five-year contract at Old Trafford.
Described as 'remarkable' by Opta's The Analyst, Hojlund can add fresh firepower to a United attack desperate for more goalscoring options next season.
