Discussions over the protracted transfer are ongoing as the Spanish side look to secure the 26-year-old before the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
A deal is still to be fully agreed but work towards the transfer is reaching the closing stages, with the club looking to secure another high-profile signing this summer.
Nothing has been signed yet but Real are confident of signing Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer.
Alexander-Arnold is in the final three months of his existing Liverpool deal, with his contract running until June 30.

However, Real are now prepared to pay a fee to sign Alexander-Arnold on June 1 so he can join the rest of the squad ahead of the Club World Cup, which begins on June 15.
A fee of around £5 million is being reported.
Real will pay a fee to acquire his services before his contract expires, having had an approach rejected during the January transfer window.

Real are grouped with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, Mexico's Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg in Group H of this summer's Club World Cup.
The La Liga outfit play their first match on June 18 against Al Hilal in Florida before meeting Pachuca in North Carolina on June 22. They end the group stage phase with a fixture against RB Salzburg in Pennsylvania on June 27.
