Liverpool are reportedly prepared to sell Darwin Nunez in the January transfer window and have already decided on their ideal replacement.
Since joining from Portuguese club Benfica in 2022 for a fee of around £85m, Nunez has struggled to reach the heights expected of him at Liverpool and has now fallen out of favour with new manager Arne Slot.
Despite starting most of Liverpool's matches at the start of the season, he was later displaced by Diogo Jota once he had returned to fitness, and is now being kept out of the starting lineup by an in-form Luis Diaz.

And now, it appears that Liverpool may have decided to part ways with Nunez as they are reportedly prepared to accept an offer for him and replace him with their ideal target.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are open to selling Nunez and will consider an offer submitted by AC Milan earlier this week to bring the Uruguayan side to the Serie A as part of a loan deal with an obligation to buy in the summer.
The report claims that Slot has not been impressed with the striker in training or during matches, leading to his omission from Liverpool's starting lineup in recent matches.

And if Liverpool do decide to part ways with Nunez, then they have already named Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram as their number one target in the position.
Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is also highly admired at Liverpool but the price needed to bring him to Anfield could be too high.
Meanwhile Thuram's current contract with Inter includes a release clause of €85m (£70.5m), much cheaper than any potential deal for Isak, which would allow Liverpool to get the deal over the line much quicker.

Although they have been happy with the French striker's recent performances, it is believed that Inter would also be open to negotiating a fee with the Reds that would be close to the price set in his release clause.
Despite this, it remains unlikely that either Nunez or Thuram will be moving in the January transfer window, with deals in the summer seen as being much more likely.
