Ivan Toney transfer saga takes new twist as Brentford star 'agrees' to massive deal

The Brentford striker has agreed to leave the club.

Ivan Toney's departure from Brentford looks imminent as the striker has reportedly agreed a massive deal with another club.

Toney has long been linked with a move away from current club Brentford, with several clubs from both the Premier League and abroad interested in securing his signature.

This summer, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were all said to be considering making a move for Toney, but it is another club that seems to be the most likely destination for the Englishman.

And now a new report has suggested that Toney has agreed a deal with the club, and the details are unbelievable.

According to GiveMeSport Senior Football correspondent Ben Jacobs, Toney has agreed a deal to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli this summer.

As part of the deal, Toney will earn close to €60million over his three year contract, but a fee with Brentford is yet to be agreed.

Al-Ahli had previously submitted a bid of up to £35m with add-ons, but were turned down as the London club are holding firm on their £50m asking price.

Therefore, the Saudi club are prepared to up their bid to £42m in an attempt to get the deal over the line ahead of the transfer window closing on Friday.

Should a deal be completed, Toney will enjoy a substantial increase in his current salary, potentially breaking into the top 10 highest paid players in the Saudi Pro League, alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema.

When asked for an update regarding Toney's transfer situation, Brentford manager Thomas Frank didn't have much to say.

“I’m always happy when the window shuts,” Frank said after a 2-0 loss to Liverpool.

“Then I don’t have to talk about ifs and buts and when and maybes, about a lot of players and of course Ivan. It’s all about Ivan!

"I actually haven’t asked about that in the last two or three days, so I don’t know actually.

“He trained well all week with a good attitude.”

The 28-year-old forward is yet to feature for Brentford this season, having been left out of both of their Premier League matchday squads.
