Where Ivan Toney could rank in Saudi Pro League's highest-paid players if staggering wage demands are met

Where Ivan Toney could rank in Saudi Pro League's highest-paid players if staggering wage demands are met

Ivan Toney has strong interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli and was left out of Brentford's latest matchday squad.

Ivan Toney could well find himself in the top 10 earners in the Saudi Pro League if he moves a move before the transfer deadline day.

The Brentford striker was left of of the squad for the win over Crystal Palace on Sunday amid speculation over his future.

Having been linked with the likes of Spurs and Manchester United, Toney is believed to be attracting interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli.

Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, Edouard Mendy, Franck Kessie and Gabri Veiga could be Toney's teammates if he agrees a move to the Middle East.

Brentford have dropped their transfer valuation for talisman Toney to £50 million and Al Ahli have shown they are more than happy to fork out for big wages.

According to a report from GiveMeSport correspondent Ben Jacobs, Toney is demanding a salary of more than €20 million (£17 million)

It would represent a substantial increase on his current pay packet at Brentford and place him as one of the top earners in Saudi.

In fact, Toney could well crack the top ten if his financial demands are met.

Former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte, now plying his trade with Al Nassr, is currently ranked 10th on the list.

He earns around £21 million year (£403,000-a-week) and showed he is still more than capable of playing at the top level with his performances in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph.

The likes of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, N'Golo Kante and Aleksandar Mitrovic are just ahead of him on £21.4 million.

Unsurprisingly, it's Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema who make up the top three - with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner well clear with yearly earnings of £171.1 million.

Speaking on Toney's situation on Sunday, Brentford boss Thomas Frank said: "Of course, Ivan is a top player, he has been fantastic for us for four years but we showed last season we can cope without him.

"Is it his last game? Who knows. There is interest, it's not close."

Toney has 67 goals in 128 appearances for the Bees, having joined in 2020.
