Anthony Gordon has emerged as one of the stars of the season for Newcastle United - but the Magpies could have their resolve tested by Liverpool who have been linked with a stunning move.
The 23-year-old has had his best season in top flight football this campaign, with 11 goals in 47 games for the Magpies.
Gordon moved to St James' Park in January 2023, making the move from boyhood club Everton after coming through the youth team ranks at Goodison Park.

He moved to the North East for a reported initial £40m, which could rise to £45m with add-ons.
Since making the move to Eddie Howe's side, Gordon has scored 12 times in 63 games, with this current campaign being his most prolific in English football.
Gordon has also made his England debut this season, and could be in contention for Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad this summer for Euro 2024 in Germany.

The attacker's contract at Newcastle runs until the summer of 2026 but according to a report from the Daily Star, Liverpool's interest has emerged in the former Toffees man as Newcastle need to balance the books and could sell one of their key players.
Of course, with Jurgen Klopp leaving Anfield this summer, it means Liverpool's interest is with the club's next manager in mind.
Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon's Rúben Amorim were previously heavily linked with the vacancy, but it appears Feyenoord's Arne Slot is now the hot favourite to become Klopp's successor.

However, it appears that if potential new Kop boss Slot wants Gordon to be among his first signings this summer as he reshapes the squad at Liverpool, the Merseyside club will need deep pockets.
The report suggests an offer of approaching £100m would be needed to have a chance of testing Newcastle's intention of keeping Gordon.
If they were to accept that fee, it would mean a healthy profit for Howe's side, recouping more than double what they initially paid Everton for Gordon fewer than 18 months ago.
Will it come to pass? Time will tell.
