The cost of watching football in the Premier League is rising, as fans in the UK will be dealing with both the living cost crisis along with soaring football ticket prices.
Out of the 20 Premier League clubs, 11 of them have increased their season ticket prices, with nine clubs charging more for the cheapest season ticket option. This will see the highest level of inflation in 40 years.
According to data compiled by Bloomberg, the rise in ticket prices are more widespread than last year. During the peak of the COVID pandemic, only six clubs put ticket prices up. Eight clubs have chosen to freeze their most expensive season ticket price for the coming season, including Champions League finalist Liverpool and Manchester United.
The club who sells the most expensive season ticket in the country are Tottenham Hotspur, with their most expensive option priced at an eye-watering £2025, at least for that price you will be well looked after, as Tottenham’s new stadium is rated one of the best stadiums in European football. For that price comes Champions League football too, after Antonio Conte’s side pipped Arsenal to fourth place after a thrilling end to the Premier League season.

For a local fan to watch Tottenham, it would cost them 90% of their monthly median salary, even the club's cheapest option would cost them almost a third of their monthly wage.
Katrina Law, the co-chair of the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust has branded the current ticket prices ‘a worrying disregard for the economic realities facing many fans’.
She added: “Access to tickets is the gateway for all fans, so it’s essential the entry point is affordable.”

Arsenal has the priciest ‘cheap’ option for season tickets, with their lowest priced package coming in at £927. That is a 14% rise from last year. Discounts will be available for Europa League and other cup matches, therefore there was a rise in Premier League ticket prices.
Chelsea, now under new ownership are yet to announce their season ticket plans. Last year, they increased prices of hundreds of seats and upgraded them to hospitality. This caused fans to voice their anger.
More clubs will be looking to upgrade some seats in their stadium to hospitality seats in order to maximise their income.
