Scott McTominay achieves something no other Serie A midfielder has managed this season as Italian media react

The former Man Utd midfielder continues to impress for Antonio Conte's side.

Scott McTominay has achieved a feat no other Serie A midfielder has managed this season after he opened the scoring for Napoli in their clash against Udinese.

The 28-year-old, who joined Napoli from boyhood club Manchester United last summer in a deal worth around £25 million, has been one of the club's standout performers this season.

Since making his league debut in a win over Cagliari in September, the Scotland international has bagged seven goals and two assists for Antonio Conte's men so far.

And the in-form midfielder displayed his poaching instincts again on Sunday night as he opened the scoring for Napoli in their 1-1 draw against Udinese.

As you can see from the footage below, McTominay netted a towering header from Matteo Politano's inswinging corner, leaving goalkeeper Razvan Sava helpless between the sticks.

After finding the back of the net, McTominay became the only Napoli player to score a goal with his left-foot, his right-foot, and his head this season, according to Opta.

In fact, after heading home from close range, the Scot is the only midfielder in Serie A to score a goal with both feet and his head during the 2024/25 campaign.

Unfortunately for McTominay and Napoli, the visitors equalised just three minutes later through Jurgen Ekkelenkamp.

The midfielder, who was handed a rating of six by Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, was praised by fans and pundits alike on social media.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Napoli boss Antonio Conte gave his take on the 1-1 draw as his side sit top of Serie A, four points ahead of Inter Milan.

"A missed opportunity to put pressure on Inter? No, absolutely not," he said.

"We have to look at ourselves, perhaps it is another missed opportunity to get points to get to Europe. Drawing with Udinese is fine because we must not confuse the reality of the result.

"We are doing something extraordinary, trust me. And we must not confuse reality, we must do it for the area, for the fans. The boys are giving everything and came out exhausted because they wanted the victory."

Conte added: "It is the ninth consecutive useful result, and trust me I tell you with my heart in my hand: we are doing something extraordinary."
