Jhon Duran is said to be 'confused' over whether he must follow a strict Saudi Arabian law which Cristiano Ronaldo was allowed to bypass.

The Colombian striker has just signed for Al Nassr from Aston Villa in a £64.5 million switch and is in line to earn a whopping £16.7 million per year in the Middle Eastern country.

Duran had only just signed a new contract in October and Villa have made a substantial bit of profit on the £18 million they paid to bring him in from Chicago Fire in January 2023.

He will now be teammates with Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic and Aymeric Laporte at Al Nassr, who are third in the Saudi Pro League.

But an interesting update on where Duran is set to live during his Saudi stint has arrived courtesy of The Sun.

Duran is said to have told his new club that he plans on living in Bahrain instead of Riyadh.

Both Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson chose to settle in Bahrain when they moved to Al Ettifaq in quick succession as the training ground was just an hour's drive.

But Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, is more than 300 miles away and a flight from Bahrain International Airport will take one hour and 20 minutes - meaning it could be quite the regular travel journey for Duran to get to training sessions.

His reason for wanting to live in Bahrain is said to be related over concerns about whether he and his partner are able to live with one another in Saudi.

Duran and his other half are not married and Islamic law discourages them living together without having tied the knot.

It's claimed that when it comes to renting out properties, private landlords have a tendency to ask for proof of marriage beforehand.

However, Ronaldo was given a special reprieve as he and long-term girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez have lived together in Saudi without being married.

The couple, who shared two children together, lived in a 17-room hotel suite before relocating to a luxury compound high-level security, and access to shops, restaurants and gyms.
