'There is almost no better player in the world' - Rashford compared to Mbappe by Ten Hag

'There is almost no better player in the world' - Rashford compared to Mbappe by Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag showers Marcus Rashford with huge praise following his performances for England at the World Cup.

Marcus Rashford has been compared to Kylian Mbappe by Erik ten Hag, who says he sees similarities between the two star forwards.

Rashford starred at the 2022 World Cup before England's crushing elimination to France last weekend.

He scored three goals for the Three Lions in Qatar, making him England's top scorer at the World Cup, alongside Arsenal's Bukayo Saka.

And he's been praised for his performances in the tournament by Manchester United boss Ten Hag, who has compared him to Mbappe.

The Dutchman said: "He [Marcus] has to make a decision. The only thing we can do is show him this is the best club to be in, which has to do with the culture of the club and also in the way we are working, in the way we play and the way we train and if we are offering the right environment to progress.

"It's a financial issue as well. Then it is up to him to make the decision. But for one-and-a-half years, he will be here."

Having worked with him for just four months, Ten Hag added: "From the first moment, I recognised huge potential. And now to get out the potential, I believe when Marcus's positioning is on the back of the defending line, there is almost no better player in the world.

"There is Mbappe in this moment, a type like him, but when he [Marcus] is getting in that position, he's great and you see he's really improved also out of possession."

Rashford struggled at Man United last season, scoring a measly five goals in all competitions following shoulder surgery.

But he appears to be back to his best this campaign, bagging eight goals in 19 games in all competitions - already scoring more goals than last season.

The 25-year-old will now return to Old Trafford for the second half of the season, with the Red Devils resuming their campaign against Burnley in the EFL Cup before taking on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on December 27.
