A switch to Italian giants Juventus followed in 1996, winning two Serie A titles during his time in Turin.
In 2001, Zidane moved to Real Madrid as he became a member of its original Galacticos alongside the likes of David Beckham, Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo Nazario, winning La Liga and the Champions League with Los Blancos.
For France, Zidane was part of the squads which won the World Cup for the first time in 1998, which took place on home soil, as well as the European Championship in 2000.

Zidane's playing days ended on a sour note after he was sent off in the 2006 World Cup final after headbutting Marco Materazzi in the chest which Italy went on to win on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Zidane has gone on to have a successful managerial career after winning a pair of La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns across two spells in charge of Real Madrid.
Thanks to the talent he played with and managed, Zidane has seen quite the array of players throughout his time.

And back in 2015, Zidane named former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo and ex-Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard along with Lionel Messi as his top three favourite players, at that time.
As per TNT Sports, Zidane said: "After Ronaldo and Messi, Hazard is my favourite player. It is spectacular to watch him play.
"If I see him playing for Real Madrid? I can only say I love the player.
"I have no doubt he will soon recover his form."

Ronaldo spent two spells at United, the first of which spanned six years and saw him win three Premier Leagues, the Champions League and the Ballon d'Or, before moving to Real in 2009 for a then world record £80m transfer fee.
Zidane ended up managing Ronaldo at Real before he left for Juventus in 2018, and the Portuguese attacker's second United stint lasted little over a season, before departing in late 2022 and is currently with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
Hazard meanwhile went on to score 110 goals in 352 games for the club across all competitions for Chelsea after moving to Stamford Bridge from Lille in 2012 for £32m, winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League twice.
Hazard left Chelsea in the summer of 2019 to move to Real Madrid, with the Stamford Bridge side pocketing an initial €100m transfer fee and was managed by Zidane, for a time.

However, Hazard experienced fitness problems and a decline in form at the Santiago Bernabeu, leaving Real in 2023 a year before his contract expired after his deal was cancelled by mutual consent, and the Belgian announced his retirement from professional football soon after aged 32.
