Lyle Taylor has been named in South Africa's provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations amid the player's mental health break.
In November, it was revealed that Foster would be taking an indefinite break from football to receive specialist treatment for his mental wellbeing.
He hasn't played for Burnley since taking his break, having scored three goals in eight games in all competitions this season.
Despite not featuring for the Premier League club since October 21, the 23-year-old has been called up for next year's AFCON tournament.

South Africa manager Hugo Broos has selected the star forward in his provisional squad for the 2023 AFCON.
He's the only Premier League-based player included in the provisional squad.
Speaking last week, Burnley boss Vincent Kompany provided an update on Foster, where he revealed the player is making good progress.
"Lyle is making good progress," he said.

"You talk about two players at this level [Foster and Koleosho] where every detail and all the margins count.
"It could be better, but we will recover both players and when both players are ready to go again, we will benefit from them being Burnley players."
Asked to put a timeframe on his return, the Manchester City legend replied: “I just know that he is getting good care and he’s in a better place than he was four weeks ago now.

“Let’s put it this way, the best I can say is that I’m hopeful it won’t be too long before he’s able to come and help us again."
Without the services of Foster, Kompany has had the likes of Zeki Amdouni and Jay Rodriguez at his disposal.
Amdouni and Rodriguez both started in their 1-1 draw at Brighton and they both could retain their place in the starting XI when the Clarets host Everton on Saturday.
