A shock Premier League club are reportedly ‘in talks’ with RB Leipzig over the transfer of forward Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko, 21, has registered 13 goals and three assists in 25 appearances for the German side this season, which has attracted widespread interest from several elite clubs.
On Tuesday, The Telegraph reported that Arsenal were “long-term admirers” of the Leipzig striker and were keen to “explore a deal in the summer” with a January deal “not impossible” although it would likely be “hugely expensive”.
Of course, this is not the first time the Gunners have shown interest in the 21-year-old. In the summer of 2024, Arsenal pursued the player but Sesko decided to remain at Leipzig as he was “reluctant” to join Arsenal due to concerns he would be second-choice to Kai Havertz, according to the Mail.

Now, an update on the situation has emerged with United Stand journalist Sam C explaining how the north London club are “in talks” with the German side for the potential signing of Sesko.
"Told Arsenal want a loan with buy option, Leipzig want money upfront or an obligation," he wrote on X.
"Understand Arteta has spoken with Sesko on more than one occasion."

However, The Athletic's David Ornstein was less positive about the potential of Sesko arriving at the Emirates in the January window, when he spoke to NBC on Wednesday.
“We hear names like Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus, initial enquiries tell me that that one is unlikely," said Ornstein.
“Benjamin Sesko, another long-term target, he’s unlikely to move in the January transfer window, never say never, but that’s more likely a summer departure if he leaves RB Leipzig.”
The Slovenian is contracted to the Bundesliga outfit until June 2029. In June 2024, he signed a new contract at the club, with The Athletic reporting that there is a "gentlemen’s agreement between Sesko and Leipzig, likely in place of a contractual release clause, that will allow him to leave for the right project. This figure will be discussed before an acceptable range is reached."

Sesko's previous contract contained a £55m release clause.
The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool were reportedly interested in the forward last summer.
