Paul Scholes has urged Manchester United to sell as many as EIGHT players in an almighty clear-out at Old Trafford.

United find themselves down in 13th after a dismal 3-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton on Sunday. After the latest disappointment, Ruben Amorim's side have now won just two of their last 10 games in the Premier League - with the Portuguese manager claiming the team could be "the worst" in United's decorated history in his press conference.

Things have not improved after the dismissal of Erik ten Hag and it's clear that United are in need of selling plenty of deadwood who have not performed.

With financial issues limiting potential spending, United may also be required to sell some of their assets just to bring new signings in.

United legend Scholes is never afraid to pull any punches when discussing the miserable situation the Red Devils are in and he recently took part in a game of 'Keep or Sell' for the TNT Sports' social channels.

Answering honestly about the players put to him, he stated that only three from the names he was given should be sticking around at United.

Despite his key mistake on Sunday, Scholes said there is "more to come" from Andre Onana, though he was well in favour of centre-backs Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez being offloaded.

The same stance was shared in regards to Luke Shaw, who has been an excellent servant but has struggled to stay fit, as well as big-money signings Casemiro and Mason Mount.

The 11-time Premier League winner has a soft spot for fellow academy graduates Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, ruling that United ought to keep both even if they would bring pure profit on the balance sheet due to their homegrown status.

However, he did decide that it is time for Marcus Rashford to move on and it looks like a potential switch to Barcelona is gathering pace.

Antony, set to join Real Betis on loan, was "a sell" without any hesitation and could go down as United's worst ever signing for a massive £85 million.

Scholes concluded that Joshua Zirkzee should not have a future at United after struggling to adapt following his £36 million move from Bologna in the summer.
