Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a shock £50 million offer for Chelsea's in-form loanee Conor Gallagher, according to reports.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been one of the Premier League's standout players this season after joining Crystal Palace on a one-year loan deal in July.
Gallagher, who recently picked up the 2021 Fan's Footballer of the Year award, has netted six goals in 17 league appearances under manager Patrick Vieira.
His outstanding form earned him a call-up to the England national team in November, where he went on to make his international debut against San Marino.
After what has been an impressive breakthrough season at Selhurst Park, the young midfielder has captured the eye of PSG manager Maurcio Pochettino, who is said to be a huge admirer of the Chelsea loanee.
In fact, according to a report from The Sun, the French club could make a £50 million bid as soon as January; although a deal is made more complicated with Gallagher being on loan at Palace until the end of the season.
Pochettino's side will keep tabs on the talented attacking midfielder if they cannot strike a deal this month, with a summer move being touted.
Gallagher's impressive run of form also brought speculation that European champions Chelsea could recall the player in January, with his goals being a huge factor in Palace's respectable league position.
But last month, it was confirmed that Gallagher will stay for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign because the midfielder has made enough appearances to prevent a January recall from being activated, report The Athletic.
The same can be said for Billy Gilmour, who is currently on a season-long loan at Premier League strugglers Norwich.
Back in November, shortly after Gallagher was called up by Gareth Southgate to represent England, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel praised the loanee for his recent efforts.
"I am not surprised the national coach loves him because I loved him from day one," Tuchel said. "Humble, nice, smile on his face and all the time ready to give everything, want to learn and improve.
“As a teammate I would have loved to play with him. It is a pleasure to know him; I am super happy that it has worked out so well. He needs to keep his feet on the ground.”
