Karim Benzema set up Casemiro's winning goal against Espanyol last night with the most exquisite backheel.

Real Madrid moved two points clear at the top of the table after Barcelona could only manage a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo on Saturday night and they owed a lot to their French striker for his part in the only goal of the game.

Benzema ran in behind and got on the end of a knockdown from Dani Carvajal before producing a glorious backheel pass through the legs of the opposition defender and into the path of Casemiro to put Real 1-0 up on the stroke of half-time.

It's complete and utter filth from Benzema, who continues to lead the line with distinction for the La Liga leaders.

And it seems as though the former Lyon man has learnt from the very best when it comes to naughty backheel assists given he was the recipient of the outrageous thinking from Guti ten years ago.

The Spaniard even took to Twitter to praise his former teammate for taking a leaf out of his book.

Casemiro was the man who finished off the move in this instance but the man himself says all the credit goes to Real's No.9 for his sensational set-up.

"The goal is Karim's," the Brazilian told MARCA.

"We're used to the quality that he has and the quality with which he plays. I had to celebrate with him because the credit goes to him.

"We know his quality and that's why I called for the ball - because I knew he could find me."
