Manchester United fans think they know what shirt number Mason Mount will receive following his transfer from Chelsea.

Mount is officially a Man United player, having completed his £60 million move from Chelsea.

He's penned a five-year deal, with the option of a further year - with reports revealing how his additional add-ons will be activated.

Man United have yet to reveal his shirt number, but fans online are convinced he'll get his 'dream' number following his switch.

Mount holds the No.19 shirt number close to his heart and whilst it's currently occupied by Raphael Varane, people on social media reckon the defender will give up his number to finally land the No.4 shirt, which is vacant following the departure of Phil Jones.

The No.7 shirt is also vacant following Cristiano Ronaldo's exit last season, with fans suggesting Alejandro Garnacho picks up the iconic shirt number.

One Twitter user wrote: "Give Mount number 19 and Varane FINALLY gets his number 4 shirt."

A second tweeted: "Of course that's how it's got to be. No doubt."

A third referenced Alejandro Garnacho, adding: "Mount - 19. Garnacho - 7. Varane - 4."

Another commented: "Mount 19.... Varane to take up 4 jersey dropped by Jones."

Mount wore the No.19 shirt number during his time at Chelsea and explained the reasoning behind the choice in a previous interview (via Sporting News): "It was my first number at Vitesse [Arnhem, during a loan spell].

"I chose it because my birthday is on the 10th and I couldn't wear number 10. One plus nine is 10!"

Mount calls time on his spell at Chelsea, but the 24-year-old is excited to start the 'next phase of his career'.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "It's never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career.

"Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I'm joining, and I can't wait to be part of this group's drive to win major trophies.

"Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn't be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here.

"I am hugely ambitious; I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United."
