The details in Mason Mount's Manchester United contract have been revealed, including how the additional £5 million will be activated.

Mount is on the verge of completing his transfer to Man United as he posted an emotional goodbye to Chelsea on social media.

The structured deal is an initial payment of £55 million for the 24-year-old, plus an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons.

And the additional fee will be activated based on the England international 'winning multiple trophies over the coming seasons' and 'playing the majority of the games'.

Mount played 195 games for Chelsea during his time at the club, notably winning the Champions League in 2021.

He'll be hoping to be a regular starter under Erik ten Hag next season as he bids to win trophies at Old Trafford.

It's claimed Ten Hag 'wowed' Mount by his in-depth knowledge and his appreciation for the game.

The Dutch boss is also understood to be a major factor in him choosing Man United over the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Mount is set to leave the Stamford Bridge outfit, having graduated from the club's youth academy.

He delivered a message to Chelsea fans ahead of completing his move to Man United.

"Hi Chelsea fans. Given the speculation over the last couple of months, this may not come as a surprise to you that I've made the decision to leave Chelsea. I feel you deserve more than just a written statement," he said in a video uploaded on social media.

"So I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I've been for all of your support over the last 18 years. I know some of you won't be happy with my decision, but it's what is right for me at this moment in my career.

"I joined Chelsea when I was six years old and we've been through a lot together. Winning the Youth Cup, my player of the year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and the unforgettable night where we won the Champions League.

"I want to say thank you to the academy for being so influential to me from a young age. The managers I've worked under, the backroom staff, all of my team-mates over the years who have become my brothers, and most importantly you guys.

"I wish you all the best."
