Man Utd star issues public response to contract rumours, he's not happy

He's set the record straight.

Marcus Rashford has rubbished reports claiming that he is set to sign a huge new contract with Manchester United.

Rashford's future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months, with rumours about the England international going into overdrive during the World Cup.

The 25-year-old impressed for the Three Lions during the tournament in Qatar, scoring three goals to finish as England's joint-top scorer with Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka.

Rashford is being linked with a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain, who reportedly see the striker as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe – should the France international leave the Parc des Princes.

Rashford has just six months left on his current contract at Manchester United but manager Erik ten Hag has already confirmed that the club plans to trigger a one-year extension clause in his deal to avoid losing the striker for free in the summer.

However, United are reportedly hoping that Rashford will commit himself to the club with a longer deal.

Rashford: This isn't helpful

The Daily Star claim United have offered Rashford a massive new contract that would see him earn £400,000 per week, making him the highest-paid player at the club following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last month.

But Rashford has hit out at the report, claiming it is false.

Responding on Twitter, Rashford wrote: "Can we please stop making up these stories?

"Mine and the club's objectives are to hopefully get into the Champions League this season. This isn't helpful. Thank you."

Ten Hag has already confirmed there is no chance Rashford will leave next summer despite the reports linking him with PSG.

"He [Marcus] has to make a decision," said the Dutchman.

"The only thing we can do is show him this is the best club to be in, which has to do with the culture of the club and also in the way we are working, in the way we play and the way we train and if we are offering the right environment to progress.

"It's a financial issue as well. Then it is up to him to make the decision. But for one-and-a-half years, he will be here."
