Manchester United target Yann Sommer has sat out Borussia Mönchengladbach training, with a move to Bayern Munich in the “final stage”, according to a report.
Erik ten Hag’s men are reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper. Last month the club turned down the chance to trigger an automatic 12-month extension in David De Gea’s deal.
It means that the Spaniard is set to become a free agent in the summer unless the club can negotiate a new deal with the shot-stopper that would see him take a significant pay cut.

While the Old Trafford club have brought in Crystal Palace’s Jack Butland on loan this window as backup, they have been tipped to explore more long-term goalkeeper solutions in the upcoming months.
One player heavily linked with United is Sommer, who has been in imperious form for Gladbach this term.
Sommer to Bayern Munich?
According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Sommer missed Gladbach training on Wednesday and looks set to sign for Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian giants are looking to bring in a Manuel Neuer replacement after the German keeper was ruled out for the rest of the season by a freak ski accident in December.
Plettenberg tweeted: “[Sommer] won’t be part of the team training today! Hot development now. Final stage.”
The journalist has written only an hour prior that there had not yet been an agreement between Gladbach and Bayern, though all parties were in talks.

Plettenberg wrote earlier in the day: “Been told there is NO TOTAL agreement between Bayern & Gladbach at this stage. Too early to say that.
“Still a lot of details to be clarified. All parties are in talks. But no intensive developments between Omlin & Gladbach as of now.”
The sudden development in Bayern’s move for Sommer will come as a blow to United.
Indeed, ESPN reported last month that the Old Trafford club were in talks with Sommer over a deal.

However, the report claimed that they were hoping to bring in the Switzerland international in the summer, rather than in January.
Sommer’s current contract at Gladbach expires at the end of the season.
