Manchester United are on the hunt for someone to clean their trophies, but insist the successful candidate must have a university degree.
United have enjoyed something of a resurgence this season, with Erik ten Hag’s side currently fourth in the Premier League and a Carabao Cup triumph, their first piece of silverware since 2017, already in the bag.
And now it seems the Red Devils are looking to give their trophy collection a bit of a revival, after the club posted a job advertisement for a full-time Curatorial Assistant.

The ad states that the role will involve providing “essential support for the Head of Heritage, Collections & Exhibitions Lead, collections management and assisting with the organisation of the Museum’s exhibition program along with cleaning and redisplaying the permanent displays.
“Tasks will include assisting with the creation of displays, collection management and dealing with public enquiries.”
It goes on to say that “an interest in football and football history would be an advantage,” and that the successful applicant should be “educated to degree level with a postgraduate qualification in Museum Studies, or equivalent is desirable”.

The deadline for applications is 11 May 2023, meaning the role could be filled in time for the FA Cup final on 3 June, when United will be hoping to lift the trophy for the 13th time when they take on rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
Victory would mean yet another addition to their museum at Old Trafford, which is already a treasure-trove of triumph.
It currently houses replicas of the Champions League and Premier League trophies the club have lifted during their rich and illustrious history, and includes the 38 trophies won during Sir Alex Ferguson’s hugely successful 26-year tenure, which came to an end in 2013.
