Man United and Liverpool are set to go head-to-head in a battle to sign €50million electric forward from the Eredivisie.
Erik ten Hag has already brought Lisandro Martinez and Antony to the Premier League from Holland's first division. Now he could be ready to lure a former rival to Old Trafford.
According to reports, both United and Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are interested in Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven. Fabrizio Romano, the transfer guru, has said: "Gakpo's value will be close to €50m again. It depends on bonuses and conditions, but PSV always wanted €50m package for Gakpo.

"For sure Man Utd will face serious competition; English clubs and not only, it's an open race."
Ten Hag's Red Devils are not the only club to have reported interest in Gakpo. Leeds United were close to signing him back in the summer as well as Southampton. Other reports suggest Liverpool are also in the race and PSV sporting director Marcel Brands has shared his view on the transfer.
"Would they be a good place to send Cody Gakpo? Yes," Brands said.

The Dutch winger has made a fantastic start to the new season and already has 30 goal contributions in 23 matches across all competitions. That is only six shy of his tally from the entirety of last season.
Understandably, United are the favourites to sign Gakpo due to Ten Hag's Dutch connections and the fact that they made their interest known in the summer.
With Cristiano Ronaldo appearing to be off his game this season and Anthony Martial's continued injury struggles, Ten Hag is desperate to add goals to his attacking line-up in the new year.

Klopp and Liverpool have also had their fair share of injuries to deal with and are yet to fill the Sadio Mane gap this season. Gakpo could be the perfect fit for either side.
