David De Gea’s future at Manchester United is in doubt, with the club preparing a bid for Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, according to reports.
The Spaniard’s United deal is due to expire at the end of the season and the Old Trafford club are yet to trigger a one-year extension in his contract.
United are instead thought to be negotiating a new deal for De Gea on reduced terms, to avoid paying the shot stopper’s eye-watering £375,000 a-week wage for another season.

Indeed, the 32-year-old is among the highest earners at United, alongside Casemiro and Raphael Varane.
While De Gea has previously said he would be open to reducing his wages and prolonging his 11-year stay at Old Trafford, the goalkeeper will want to retain his No.1 spot.
United to bid for Livakovic
According to the Croatian publication Sportske Novosti, United have now renewed their interest in Livakovic, having previously explored the possibility of signing the keeper in the summer.

Furthermore, Express Sport has claimed his club, Dinamo Zagreb are now resigned to losing the 27-year-old in January.
United are reportedly one of several clubs in the mix as Erik ten Hag decides on the future of De Gea.
The Dinamo Zagreb star helped Croatia reach the World Cup semi-final in Qatar, only to be defeated 3-0 by eventual champions Argentina.
Livakovic was one of Vatreni’s stand-out players throughout the tournament, saving three spot-kicks against Japan to book his team a place in the quarter-final against Brazil.

The Balkan country of just 4 million people then went on to beat the tournament favourites Brazil on penalties, with Livakovic saving a Rodrygo's spot-kick in the shootout.
