Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano claimed that Van Dongen has been offered a new four-year deal at the Dutch club. However, 'there is still no agreement in place between both parties'.
Should he refuse a new contract, Ten Hag, who allegedly knows him "very, very well", could snap him up as a free agent in the summer.
Whilst it is thought that clubs many other clubs, including those from Germany have expressed an interest in signing the player.
