Borussia Dortmund are one of many clubs looking to secure Naby Keita’s signature if he becomes a free agent next summer, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed
The Guinean has less than a year left on his Liverpool contract, which means that clubs in Europe can approach from January onwards.
It has been thought that Liverpool are in two minds about whether to keep the 27-year-old, who has been inconsistent with injuries since joining from RB Leipzig in 2018 for £50m+.

He played 40 times last season (his highest appearance tally), helping Liverpool to a domestic cup double, but has only played three minutes this term after picking up an injury in training which will keep him out until late October.
Harvey Elliott has emerged as the first choice in that central midfield position alongside Thiago and Fabinho, with Keita now having to battle him, Jordan Henderson, Fabio Carvalho, Arthur Melo and others for the role.

Romano believes that Dortmund are one of a number of clubs interested in Keita’s services.
“Borussia Dortmund are among 3-4 clubs around Europe interested in Naby Keita in case he becomes a free agent,” Romano explained to CaughtOffside.
“The situation is still open with Liverpool, Naby wants guarantees to sign a new deal at Anfield, so it will be decided in the next months.”
The future of the Guinea skipper may also play a part in the long-term future of Jude Bellingham, who has reportedly got to choose between the Reds and Real Madrid for his next club.

Relations between Liverpool and BVB are naturally strong anyway due to their connections with You’ll Never Walk Alone and Jurgen Klopp.
If they potentially sway Keita the way of Edin Terzic’s men, they may be given some priority for Bellingham’s signature.
Keita earned his move to Liverpool by showcasing his talent in the Bundesliga with Leipzig, and maybe a return to Germany could aid him on a path to his full potential.
