Liverpool have been eyeing up Real Madrid star Marco Asensio and are looking at him as a potential option to bring in this summer.
The Spaniard only has one year left on his current contract, and if he is not sold this season he will become a free agent. Madrid may be keen to cash in whilst they still can.
Several clubs have the Madridista on their agenda, however Liverpool are the only club who have conveyed to the players’ agent that they are big fans, according to AS.

Scudetto winners AC Milan are also said to be huge admirers of the player but Asensio is said to be pessimistic about the economic situation the club finds itself in.
The Rossoneri are delighted with both Theo Hernández and Brahim, and have identified Asensio as the perfect reinforcement for their forward line.

Madrid’s strong relations with Milan favour the Spanish side, however it is said that they will struggle to meet Madrid’s asking price of 40 million euros.
A report by Spanish outlet ‘Sport’ claim that Arsenal are preparing to sign the attacker 'at all costs', despite interest from Merseyside.
Asensio is a player Liverpool and Arsenal have continuously been linked to over the years, although such rumours have never materialised into anything concrete.
Although they have recently signed the prolific goalscorer Darwin Nunez for an impressive fee, the European finalists may look to replace the outgoing Sadio Mane with another attacking talent as well, and Asesnsio’s profile would fit the bill.

However, after being second fiddle to Rodrygo, Valverde and Vinicius this year, the Spaniard may want to sign for a team that guarantees him game time.
This could be unlikely at Liverpool considering the presence of Salah, Diaz, Nunez and Jota.
Moreover, Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed months ago that he would try and renew Asensio’s contract, so this deal may prove hard to complete for both Liverpool and Milan.
