Liverpool fans are already writing their team’s chances off after the Reds were drawn against holders Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.
After finishing second in their group, Jurgen Klopp’s side were faced with the possibility of being drawn against one of Bayern Munich, Porto, Benfica and Real Madrid.
Just a mere six months on from their heartbreaking 1-0 defeat in last season’s final, they will be up against Madrid again, this time in the round of 16.
Klopp may have turned doubters into believers but their current form has got the Anfield faithful fearing for the worst.

In May’s final in Paris, Liverpool created more chances and largely dominated the match. However, Madrid had an inspired Thibaut Courtois in goal, who denied the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah time after time.
A far-post finish by Vinicius Junior was enough to win the trophy for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Since the defeat by the Spanish giants, Liverpool have not looked the same. They are currently eighth in the Premier League table after a horrendous start to the season which saw them get beaten by the likes of Nottingham Forest and Leeds United in recent weeks.

However, they looked to have turned a corner after backing up their midweek victory over Napoli in the Champions League by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Sunday evening. The win against Spurs was Liverpool’s first victory away from home in the Premier League this season.
After the match, Klopp said: “Winning here is incredibly difficult. We have to show the attitude and the commitment to defending all the time. We have to show we're not punched too hard when we concede a goal. I liked that tonight.
“I didn't want to concede but I thought the reaction was good. This is not the start or whatever [of a recovery], we're in a phase. But tonight we couldn't reach more than three points and we got them and that's massive.”

The Champions League round of 16 will be played in February, Liverpool fans will be hoping that by then, the likes of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Joel Matip are all fit and ready to return. Whilst they will also be hoping to see some new signings in the January transfer window.
