Sadio Mané PR agent has denied media reports that his client earned close to £100,000 a week at Liverpool, and says the figure is much higher.
Speaking to TV 5 Monde, Bacary Cissé, who works closely with Mané, revealed his player “extended contract in 2018 and his salary was much higher than the numbers circulating in the media.”
This news comes after Liverpool fans signalled their bemusement when they learnt the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner were reportedly earning more than Mané.

The wage structure at Liverpool has been a hot topic of conversation on Merseyside in recent weeks.
Virgil Van Dijk is the club’s highest earner, bringing in a reported £220,000 a week, some way shy of the Premier League’s biggest earner, Cristiano Ronaldo, who earns more than £400,000 a week.
The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, David De Gea, and Erling Haaland earn considerably less than Ronaldo but are on very high wage packets in comparison to Van Dijk.
Liverpool aren’t prepared to hand out such contracts to their players. Their transfer policy involved finding diamonds in the rough and handing them reasonable wages.

As such, when Sadio Mané came knocking on the Liverpool hierarchy’s door asking for £400,000 a week, it was agreed his sale would be sanctioned over the course of the summer 2022 transfer window.
Liverpool’s issue is the fact Mané isn’t the only player asking for such a wage. The real problems surround Mohammed Salah.

Salah has been performing as arguably the best player in the Premier League for a number of years now and as such he wants a salary which reflect his performance.
He wants a salary akin to those top earners in the Premier League.
Liverpool are seemingly unwilling to budge on their wage policy stance, and some reports suggest they are thus considering selling Salah this summer.
Liverpool fans will be hoping a common ground can be found with Salah. However, if the Reds want to keep hold of their biggest stars, their wage structure might have to be tinkered with.
