Former Liverpool Midfielder Danny Murphy has warned Naby Keita that his Liverpool future could be in doubt if he’s not consistent
With Keita’s contract set for expiry in the summer of 2023, it is unclear yet whether Liverpool are looking to keep him at the club beyond that date.
The 27-year-old has struggled with injuries in his Liverpool career and has fallen behind Thiago, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in the pecking order.

Recent reports, from Fabrizio Romano, suggesting that Liverpool will be looking to sign Jude Bellingham next summer would infer that Keita’s Liverpool future could be in doubt.
Murphy has stated that, despite Jurgen Klopp's trust in the Guinea international, his place in the team is at risk if he ‘doesn't produce the form’ that he is capable of.

Speaking to MatchMyBet on Keita’s time at Anfield, Murphy said: “I think he’s probably the signing that hasn’t exceeded expectations. He’s been a little bit underwhelming.”
"He’s had some terrific games and he’s shown some good quality. He understands the role, or he’s understanding the role more and more, in Klopp’s side and he’s played him in some big games.”
"There is definitely some trust there and I think Klopp believes there’s more to come from him. I don’t think he’ll be leaving. I know there are some supporters that would be happy to move him on and bring somebody else in.”
Since joining the Reds in 2018 for £48 million, Keita has only shown glimpses of his ability in his 4 year stint in Merseyside, having not really been able to gain a consistent run of starts due to the injury problems.

The injuries may be a worry, but when fit and firing, Keita has the ability to start for almost any team in the league and is an invaluable asset to Jurgen Klopp.
The silky midfielder has popped up with some important goals including a vital winner in Liverpool’s 1-0 win away at Newcastle, but has only managed 11 goals during his time at the club.
