Former Everton and Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has claimed that Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez should leave the club this summer.
Gomez has two years remaining on his Liverpool contract but has fallen behind Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate in the pecking order at Anfield.
The 25-year-old played just 21 matches this season, eight in the Premier League, and found himself deputising for right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold despite his favoured central role.

He’s suffered three year-long spells on the sidelines at different stages in his Reds career, but despite this, The Mirror‘s Simon Mullock revealed just last week that he has become frustrated at a lack of game time, leaving his future on Merseyside up in the air.
Reacting to the news from Mullock in a chat with Football Insider, Campbell said: “I think he will look to leave if a good offer comes in.
“The fact of the matter is, he is not playing enough football.
“It is one thing being the first reserve but it is another when you are the third or fourth choice. He is probably the fourth-choice centre-half.

“Liverpool have also signed another right-back as well. The writing is on the wall as far as I’m concerned.
“If he has any ambition of getting to the World Cup, he needs to leave. He needs to be playing.
“The key is to go to a club where he will play regularly. Hopefully, a deal can be done and he can play football. There is nothing better than playing.”

Contrary to these reports, Chris Bascombe from The Telegraph has claimed that Joe Gomez will sign a new deal with the Reds this pre-season.
Gomez’s injury record may be a weakness, but when fit and well he will be in contention to start for both club and country.
He’s been capped 11 times by England and will hope to be selected for this winter’s World Cup in Qatar.
However, he hasn’t featured for his national side since a 3-0 win over Wales in October 2020.
