Liverpool have been warned that they will have to pay a “heck of a lot” to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Nunes.
Earlier this week reports emerged that the Reds were exploring a deal to sign the 24-year-old, who only arrived at Molineux last summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s side had expressed an interest in signing Nunes before Wolves pipped them to a deal by paying a £38million fee.

However, the Telegraph claimed that last summer the Reds committed to bidding on Nunes, and are keen to bring the Portugal international to Anfield next summer for around £44million.
However, the Reds’ chances of signing Nunes before then appear small given Wolves’ precarious position near the bottom of the Premier League table.
Nunes to Liverpool?

Sky Sports journalist Anton Toloui has stressed that Julen Lopetegui’s side do not want to sell the Portuguese star while in a relegation dogfight.
On the Wolves' record signing, Toloui said, via footballfancast: “I’ve been speaking to people at Wolves this morning [Tuesday] and they were saying look, we do not want anyone to come in for him.
“We’re in a relegation fight, come armed with not just a chequebook, but wheelbarrows full of cash because there’s absolutely no way Wolves will sell him without getting a heck of a lot more than they paid for him.”
Indeed, Wolves manager Lopetegui also issued a blunt response when quizzed about speculation linking Nunes to Liverpool

The Spaniard said: “We can say that Matheus is our player. He’s a Wolves player and he’s so happy here.”
Nunes, who made two appearances for Portugal at the World Cup, has blown hot and cold in his first few months in the Black Country.
Indeed, he suffered a series of injuries under former Wolves manager Bruno Lage and has so far completed 90 minutes for the club just twice.
