Liverpool’s Sadio Mané looks set to return to Germany this summer with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich his chosen destination. PSG also reportedly held an interest in the £30 million rated star, but it was Bayern who proved more successful in persuading Mané to join them.
According to Sport1 reporter Kerry Hau, Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidžić told Mané that he’ll be Bayern’s star player. Having lived in the shadow of the free scoring Mo Salah in recent years, it is easy to understand why such a proposition enticed the Senegal international.
One suspects this all but confirms Bayern’s current talisman Robert Lewandowski will be departing this summer. The Poland striker has enjoyed 8 highly productive seasons in Bavaria but is looking for a fresh challenge this summer. Barcelona are the favourites to sign the forward, but some have suggested Jurgen Klopp should look to rekindle his relationship with the Pole at Anfield for the upcoming season.

As for a Mané replacement, the Reds have been linked with a series of names in recent days. Serge Gnabry, Johnathon David, Christian Pulisic and Arnaut Danjuma are the latest figures to be touted as potential replacements. Links with Benfica’s Darwin Nuñez have also persistently popped up in the media.
However, Mané, who is set to be signed as Bayern Munich’s new star player in the coming weeks, won’t be easy to replace. Liverpool are fortunate in the sense that they already have three top class players waiting in the wings in the form of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino who have proven they can fill in for Mané when necessary. But for Klopp, there’s no one quite like Sadio Mané. Bayern will be lucky to have him.
