Lionel Messi produced some outrageous passes in the 2008/2009 season, with a 40-minute compilation video showcasing each one.
The Argentina superstar came into his own in 2008. Barcelona recognised they needed to make changes after finishing third with zero trophies the campaign prior.
In a shocking move at the time, Ronaldinho joined AC Milan despite being the Blaugrana's talisman while manager Frank Rijkaard was sacked and replaced by Pep Guardiola.

Messi's relationship with Guardiola helped make him the player he is today. With the full backing of his manager, plus the recently vacated number 10 shirt on his back, Messi started to carve out his legacy before our very eyes.
He scored 38 goals and registered 19 assists in 51 games in all competitions en route to winning La Liga and the Champions League.
Later that year, Messi won the first of his seven Ballon d'Or awards. When you see the performances he was dropping every week in that legendary season, it's easy to understand why.

@Altin10i on Twitter decided to focus on Messi's playmaking ability in his most recent video.
He captioned it: "Lionel Messi - Playmaking 2008/2009 40 minutes of Lionel Messi playmaking without any replays. Enjoy." You can check it out below.
What's staggering is the number of times Messi's teammates miss what appear to be easy chances.

Thierry Henry and Andres Iniesta, among others, failing to hit the target could've seen Messi's stats reach even loftier heights.
Fans have reacted to the compilation and they're in disbelief how long it is, given Messi was only 22 at the time.
One person commented: "A 40-minute comp? This is why he's the undisputed GOAT."
Another tweeted: "Only Lionel Messi could have a video this long covering one season of his career."

A third put: "The quality of passes never drop. Absolutely insane."
While someone said: "It's not even the best season of his career. Crazy."
Messi recently admitted Guardiola is the best coach he's ever had. The current Manchester City boss regularly sings Messi's praises, despite the duo not working together for over 10 years at this point.

During a recent interview, Messi replied when asked if Guardiola is his favourite coach: "No doubt about it, Guardiola is special, distinctively the way he sees every match, the preparation for it and how he communicates (the strategy) to us."
No wonder Messi was producing highlight reels as long as TV shows under Guardiola's management.
The Paris Saint-Germain superstar is currently on holiday after winning the World Cup with Argentina.
