Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of completing their first major signing since Kylian Mbappe’s exit.
PSG are settling into the post-Mbappe era, with Matvey Safonov reportedly set to be their first signing since the departure of the France skipper.
As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Ligue 1 giants are set to sign the Russian goalkeeper, who will reportedly sign a contract until 2029.

Writing on X, formally Twitter, the Italian journalist said: “Paris Saint-Germain are all set to make [the] Matvey Safonov deal official soon.
“The first signing [of the summer] is already completed for Russian [goalkeeper] to join for a €20million (£17million) package.”
And Safonov could play a prominent role for Les Parisiens next term.

As per the French publication L’Equipe, Safonov, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Arnau Tenas have been informed by the PSG management that there is no hierarchy for the No.1 spot going into next term.
Italy international Donnarumma has been the undisputed starter between the sticks for the past two seasons.
However, when goalkeepers return for pre-season, there will reportedly be a meritocracy in place regarding who claims the No.1 shirt.

Elsewhere, Mbappe has signed a contract to join Real Madrid on a free transfer when his PSG deal expires on June 30.
The striker verbally agreed to move to the Bernabeu in February and then announced in May he would leave PSG at the end of the campaign.
The 25-year-old has now signed terms with Real and will move to Spain when the transfer window opens on July 1.
