Jude Bellingham SLAPS opponent in Super Cup clash as Spanish media call out Real Madrid star's behaviour

Jude Bellingham SLAPS opponent in Super Cup clash as Spanish media call out Real Madrid star's behaviour

The England international was also involved in a brawl after the final whistle.

Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham was spotted slapping Pablo Maffeo during a Super Cup clash against RCD Mallorca.

On Thursday, La Liga champions Real Madrid comfortably beat RCB Mallorda 3-0 in their Super Cup semi-final match at the King Abdullah Sport City in Saudi Arabia.

Bellingham scored the opener in the match shortly after the hour mark, before an own goal from Mallorca defender Martin Valjent and a third goal from Rodrygo sealed the win for the Spanish giants.

However, it wasn't Bellingham's goal that led to him making headlines in the Spanish media after the match, as the England international was seen slapping one of his opponents during the match.

Immediately after the match ended, player from both Real Madrid and Mallorca were involved in a large fight in the middle of the pitch, forcing staff and security to step in to split them up.

But Bellingham's incident with Mallorca's Maffeo took place earlier in the match, after the defender appeared to intentionally wind up several members of the Real Madrid team throughout the game.

Ahead of the game, the Maffeo claimed that he would only need 10 seconds to knock out the Vinicius Jr in a boxing match, but was regularly beaten by the Brazilian when they faced off on the pitch.

And Bellingham was quick to remind the 27-year-old of this, as he slapped him on the back of the head shortly after Vinicius had beaten him in a duel.

Speaking about Maffeo's behaviour, Marca panelist Gonzalo Miró said: "Maffeo is a footballer who is extremely provocative and who seeks to be the centre of attention when he plays Madrid."

But fellow panelist Emilio Contreras didn't feel it fair to hand all of the blame to Maffeo, as he also called out Bellingham, saying: "I think it's deplorable behaviour from professional footballers.

"I don't accept the fact that they're at who knows how many heartbeats. Bellingham should be criticized for the slap, it's unnecessary. And Maffeo, it's deplorable."

While Whip Serrano suggested: "The conclusion I draw is that they (Madrid) had it in for Maffeo, they were waiting for him and they took advantage of the two final goals to get even, and since Maffeo wasn't going to keep quiet and he turned around, a brawl was created."
