At the age of 17 years and 249 days old, Pele broke the record in the 1958 World Cup, as the Brazilian scored twice in his nation’s 5-2 thrashing of Sweden.
With Yamal only turning 17 yesterday, Yamal will break this record in the Euro 2024 final, at the age of 17 years and 1 day old.
After featuring in every match of the tournament so far, Yamal has scored one goal and assisted three.
Should he perform as he has been throughout the tournament, he will help Spain win their fourth European Championship, taking them clear of Germany as the most successful team in the competition's history.

And the youngster is confident that his side will do just that when they step out to face England on Sunday night.
Speaking to Marca, he said: "Playing the way we are doing, like against Germany or France. Being ourselves, having the ball and controlling the game at all times. I think we are the best at that, and nobody can stop us if we do that.
"It is clear that as a team there is no one like Spain, playing the ball, going for the pressure. We are doing very well.”
