Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has issued an ‘update’ on the future of Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo.
Olmo, 26, signed for the club in the summer of 2024 after impressing during Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph in Germany.
The former Dinamo Zagreb man left Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for a reported £51m, according to BBC Sport.
However, the move has been a complicated one, to say the least. Initially, the player could only be registered on a temporary arrangement after the club could not meet La Liga’s wage cap restrictions.

But the agreement was for six months, ending in December.
On December 27, according to BBC Sport, La Liga welcomed a court’s decision to reject an appeal “regarding the precautionary” registration of the player for the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.
On Monday, the club lost another appeal to register the Spain international.
According to La Liga, "none of the conditions necessary for the adoption of the precautionary measure were met”.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has issued an update via his Give Me Sport column.
The journalist claims that Olmo “will not be moving to the Premier League in January” despite being linked with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham in recent days.
Olmo’s agent, Andy Bara, has provided an updated stance on his client’s future and Barca fans will no doubt be overjoyed.

“I can announce that the decision made by Dani is to STAY at Barcelona,” said Bara.
“We are not considering any other option or club, Dani Olmo wants to play for Barça, and his desire is very clear.”
Several German clubs were also thought to be interested in Olmo, but a move away from Barca seems increasingly unlikely.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal was the first English club to show interest. The Gunners were among nine clubs 'interested' in the player with Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and former club Leipzig also linked.

Romano also suggests that the player is “willing to wait” for a “final solution” regarding his future at the club.
Since arriving from Leipzig, Olmo has featured 16 times for Hansi Flick’s side, scoring six goals and providing one assist as Barca currently sit third in the Spanish top flight heading into 2025.
